Rather than copying businesses, examine what the most successful companies in a functionally relevant industry are doing and see if you can apply similar tactics to your business.

Use the creativity of your internal search team to uncover prospective analogous fields and begin your pyramiding or broadcast search in these areas. If you begin your search outside your own field, pyramiding is more likely to bring you to distant similar marketplaces.
